SiSOB Disemination workshop PDF Print E-mail

On  November,6  2013, the SiSOB consortium organized a workshop to disseminate the results of the project. The workshop, held in Duisburg, was attended by members of the consortium and invited experts.

The workshop began with an analysis of the case studies addressed by the project (Research mobility, Knowledge Sharing and Peer Review) structured as a world café.  In our café we formed three "tables" dedicated to: mobility (M), knowledge sharing (KS) and peer review (PR) - the three SISOB case studies. In each case the case study was briefly introduced by the study leader: Cornelia Lawson for Mobility, Ulrich Hoppe for Knowledge Sharing and Richard Walker for Peer Review. The subsequent 30 minute discussion was structured around a pre-defined set of questions.

At the end of the discussion the experts table, and the process was repeated. After three rounds of discussion, table participants came together again and the case study leaders presented the results. The second part of the workshop explored the link between the results of the  case studies and three critical themes for SISOB:  policy making, data and technology. The workshop concluded with a panel discussion among the invited experts. The discussion produced useful suggestions for finalizing project deliverables and for future research.

In the deliverable D10.3 there is a summary of the discussions and reflections of this workshop.

Organization

The aim of the workshop is to present the results of the SiSOB project in the context of the needs of researchers and institutions with the role of the Science of the Society (SiS). With this general purpose, the event is presented as an open day to reflect on the needs considered when the consoritum prepared the project as response to set of needs in the Europen Research Area and int he studies about the role of the science in the sociey in general. This reflection will be done from four points of view: data about science, the role of technology, policies related and the description of different case studies to conduct the researches.

This open day will be organized as a set of  brainstorming and group-discussion activities in small working groups with researchers and experts. We want to share the the main results of the SiSOB project and create a  list of open questions and research paths opened as part of the advances made during these three years.

Process of the event

The workshop will not be a list of presentations related with the project, as in tradicional conferences. It will focus on strategic questions that will allow particpatns to engage as a group in a interactive and productive dialogues. Some participatory and group methodologies will be used offerring enoguh structure gur without prescirbing the outcome. The main idea of this event is to share with colleagues and stakeholders that could find a benefic of the results of the project: the software, the needs, the open research channels, the faillure proofs..

The event will have one day of duration. In order to garantee a muliticiplinar participation, some of the participants will be invited by the SiSOB project but the participation is open to any reserach or institution intereted onthe topics of the project. The event has not registration fee and we invite to all participants to the material, coffee breaks and lunch.
